4th/5th Grade Field Trips

Bring your class to meet our expert leaders at the Gilbert Preserve for an opportunity to “connect with nature”! We provide all materials, binoculars, live raptors, and leaders. .

Classroom Visits

Our expert naturalists will come to your class with teaching materials and give a short course on Birds and Birdwatching, using Cornell University’s “Bird Sleuth” program to introduce children to data collection and statistics. .

Homeschool Field Trips

Twice a year Desert Rivers holds a “Homeschoolers Birdwalk” at the Gilbert Riparian Preserve for homeschool children of all ages. Special birdwalks can be arranged for your group as well.

Scout and other groups!

Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Lifelong Learning Groups, Employee Groups - We will organize special birdwalks for you at the Gilbert Riparian Preserve or another riaprian habitat!



The Nina Mason Pulliam Audubon Nature Center is a wonderful place to provide a nature experience for families, groups, and schools on the south bank of the Salt River and Central Avenue. Operated by Audubon Arizona, this state of the art facility is a must-see for you and your family, offering many different programs and opportunities to “connect with nature” on the Salt River!
